Maybe your photos aren't as good as you think?

There another helpful reply.... Maybe try something like 'can I see your images' or try offer advice to point the person in the right direction!

This forum, unlike a LOT of others isn't here for people that consider themselves 'amazing' to come and belittle people... This forum is to help people...

Eric - this is your last warning (I told you, don't make people report your posts)

One more and you're not welcome here any longer.

How could you have been helpful?

I'd start with this...

"when people are looking for quality and someone offers it to them for free, they're always going to be a bit dubious?"

Or - go down the line of image quality, but not like you did... Not helpful

Thanks for this. I read his comment last night and immediately tried to take down my post (hence the 'dots')

My original post was talking about how some friends I have on facebook were complaining to me about how other photographers that they chose to do pics charged them an arm and a leg when they wanted their prints. I have a reasonable price rate, but I am not getting business from my facebook friends. Could it be that they won't feel comfortable with me taking their pics since I am their friend? Maybe they don't think of me as a photographer because they know me in a different context. Perhaps I should advertise in other venues....

Oh and I did previously write that I have a reasonable pricing scheme that includes some digital images and that I feel that my pics are of a good quality.

And to Aboiment-- I didn't report you-- I just decided to retract my post for fear of more bashing from other members.

You shouldn't have to retract your post due to someone attempting to troll you. As Sime said this forum is for help. Feel free to ask questions!

It could be that they don't want to mix personal and business relations. If you feel like they're not taking your work into consideration I would say ask a few of them and see why they won't. It really could be a number of things as to why they won't hire you.

Is this your personal facebook or business facebook page? If you don't already have a page I'd suggest making one, and sharing it. Show your rates, some photos from your portfolio, and go from there.

Facebook shouldn't be the only place you advertise. If that's it you're only getting potential business from the # of friends you have, and not necessarily from people you don't know(unless friends advertise for you or people ask about your work).

Thanks for this. Yes, I am referring to my personal facebook page. A lot of my friends are having babies right now, and they hire photographers to take pics of the baby bump and/ or newborn. They are aware that I am a photographer, but I never hear from them. I also have a professional facebook where all my status updates refer to photography (discounts, promotions, etc) I have done some pics for some close friends and people have commented on them and my these friends are mentioning my name, but I haven't heard from anyone looking for pics based on these referrals.

Thanks for your advice.

Some people feel weird hiring friends. They may feel that you will feel pressure to give them a discount, or may feel that upset if you don't. I know one guy who worked in the construction field whose friend was flabbergasted he wouldn't put a new roof on his shed for a six pack of beer.

Friends and business rarely mix, and when they do, they don't mix well....

Just my two bits..

I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that it has to do with the quality of your work, rather than people just not wanting to ask you, especially if they regularly see you pushing your services on FB.

Again, unless you're willing to link your work, there isn't much else anyone can say about this. It's like asking why no one likes your cooking without letting anyone taste it.

Really didn't take much effort, but you can find both her Facebook page and her website. I see nothing wrong with her work. It may be more about saturation in her area, or economy. Who knows?

I think it's pretty ridiculous to assume her work is bad just because she doesn't link to it. Agreed, it would be helpful to have links, but if you're too busy to do a little "Googling" before making snide comments then you're too busy to waste time here.
