Default Suggestions for art fair?

I'm participating in my first art fair in the spring. It's casual and outdoors and a way for local artisans to sell their items. I'm wondering how much inventory to bring and what sizes sell the best? What's a good way to display my images? Easels? Foam board? Sleeves? I'd love any pointers!

Default a helpful place to get more info about selling photos at art fairs

Hello Lindsey, Great questions! Art fairs are very profitable places for photographers, albeit the competition for spaces is very tough. Most of the best events are "juried" so getting into them is the first hurdle into making money at them.

I run an art fair artists community site at Art Fair Insiders - Call for Artists, Making Money at Juried Art Fairs, Craft Shows and Festivals that has over 6000 artist members discussing the art fair biz. I think you'll find many answers to your questions there. Like this forum it is free to join and we have lots of fun and lots of answers.

Good luck and I hope to meet you at an art fair one day.

In my limited experience with non-juried fairs, inexpensive sells. Big booths with lots of large, framed or canvas prints generate a lot of lookers, but I haven't seen very many people actually sell those. Photo note cards tend to fly off the shelves, and smaller matted prints sell more than larger framed ones. I think it's a know your audience kind of thing--in one fair, if you price anything below $200 nothing will sell at all because people will think you're a 2-bit hack selling for cheap. One town over, and you'll still sell nothing but this time because you're too pricey.
