There will be a single table for us to eat dinner at and that will have flowers on it as well. That is it, and the flowers are included in the B&B package. My brother is buying the alcohol which is for 4 out of our 12 guests. The twelve guests includes bride and groom.

My point is that I am not spending a lot on any part of the wedding. Thus far I have paid for everything up front without going into debt. Questions regarding me splashing out on booze have come up so many times in this thread so I gather I am not believed when I say this is a small simple wedding. I am skipping so much of what people are used to at weddings, and keeping things simple at a single location. Whichever photographer does agree to help will see for themselves the simplicity of this wedding.
No worries Blue. I am not saying that's you. I was just explaining why it comes up.

btw, a crapton is a few shovels shy of a shitload.

Ohhh.. Crap-ton. Wow its been a long day.

I guess I am on the defensive now about my budget. I heard the same questions when I set my dress budget, but I got a great deal on a simple dress and hopefully eventually I find a photographer willing to help me out as well.

Just for clarification, is this an average garden spade, or more like a backhoe shovel we are talking about here?

So how much you spending on booze and flowers?

(see, now that's more of the veiled slam on being cheap that you were eluding to)
Really...after about three hours, the flowers start to wilt and die and all that food and booze you purchased to impress your friends, Well, after about six hours it's all in the crapper.
Now, tell me, what's more important? Photos that last a lifetime or dead flowers and piles of crap?

I understand your budget restrictions and wish you luck in finding a photographer.

As I said previously in this thread, I am not spending a lot on flowers and I am not spending a dime on booze. the only flowers I get are provided by the B&B.

I wish I could delete this thread. It has become very repetitive.

Again..small wedding a dozen people. This is a casual affair with the budget minimized at every opportunity. My goal is to start off in a strong marriage rather than a crippling debt as I am paying for this myself. Newlyweds need not be burdened with the cost of a lavish wedding unless that is their choice. Casual ceremony, close family and a dinner.

Thankfully though, the best possible outcome has come out of this thread. A wonderful professional photographer has come forward with somewhat of a barter agreement for me. My fiance and I will be meeting him to go over things but I have a great feeling about this. Thank you all for your advice and help.

Don't blame ya...I hit new response without reading all the previous comments. Glad you found someone decent. This business is becoming a barter type these days with the way the economy is headed. However my time is worth more than someone with an already full-time job and looking to make beer money on the side.

Default Amateur Photographer! (in need of a client asap)

Hello El Blue,

I have recently stumbled upon your post about needing a wedding photographer. I am an amateur photographer in need of work. Are you still looking for someone? I can send you a portfolio of my images so you can decide whether you are interested. I will work with your budget. Also, when exactly is your wedding planned for? I will be traveling from Baltimore so I would need to know ahead of time. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

I have looked on craigslist before... there are always photographers looking to expand their porfolio who are willing to come out and do a shoot for cheap. I reccomend you do see what their current porfolio looks like to know if you like their style and eye. If you lived in my area I would be happy to do that for you as I am interested in expanding my wedding experience and normally people don't want to hire someone who hasn't shot a lot of weddings becuase you do only get one chance. I am confident in my ability to deliver results, and believe there are others out there in the same situation. Post in the creative section and/or event section... give time and some details and see what hits. Good luck and congratulations!
