Default How many pictures to a shoot

Out of curiosity, how many pictures do you give a client for a session? Let say for a 1 hour senior portrait or family shoot. Of course all hi-res, edited pictures.

I offer 30, however I usually deliver at least 40. When I do a family shoot I also quick snap candid s, which I add in as a bonus.

Ahhh...(Using my best Maxwell Smart voice) The old Under promise, over deliver technique. AKA Scotty promising. "Captain, it'll take me six hours to get warp drive back!"

Depends on several factors. I usually include one to three of each pose. The more poses, the more photos they get.

I normally aim for 30-50 but that is for a 1-2 hour unlimited poses session. However I never give digitals to clients that is just what I have for them to order prints for. On an average shoot I shoot 200+ photos and narrow it down. I never try and have less than 30. Especially with little kids.

Thanks everyone, this is good to know. When I was looking at local photographers I was seeing quite a range in amout of pictures they offered. Most of the time they were limiting poses. It also gives me a good range for when I am doing a shoot.

I think you will fine poses and expectations will vary from client to client. Feel them out a head of time. Some want more traditional poses, which can be limited depending on location. Others like the more candid free style photos which can really open the door to be creative with your shots.

I don't limit poses, I limit my time, we get done what we can get done in the time I am booked. I always scope out my locations and go in having an idea of what I want to do. If there is a shot I really want to try to get I will go over my time, but generally I can get plenty of varied poses done within the set time.
