Hi all, I know there has been a lot of questions regarding prices, have scrolled through them, but I am looking for information relevent to a small publication in australia.
A compony has contacted me wanting permision to use my photos in a tourism guide called "The black book" They emailed asking to work out a deal, therein is the delemma, I could really use the exposure, especally since the photos are of our home town, will bee good for the whole comunity, but don't want to over or undercharge. What does one charge for this sort of thing? I am guessing that they will want use of the photos (non exclusive) for thier publication for a certain amount of time.. Any thoughts, comments please? Lou. |

How many are printed and what countries will they be sent too? You should get paid of each country as well.

Jim 150.00 are distributed to the greater south east Queensland in australia, none overseas.
Just got word that in exchange for publicity, credits and my contact info appearing in the mag, they want my photos for free, for one year, copyright to me of course |

I'm getting a little sick of my family saying that the photos cost nothing to take, they don't put into that theory my qualification, my camera gear, my experience, and most of the time taken to take them, all that wasn't for free!
Why should my pictures be for free? |

Their offer is $0. Counter offer $1/photo/book (which should then be $150/photo.) Maybe they'll come back with $100/ photo.
I've been thinking about this no budget for photos problem, and I've come up with a solution. If they have no content, then there's nothing to publish, so they don't need an editor. Fire him and use his salary to buy photos. Now that they have some content, and something to publish, they can offer the job to an editor in exchange for credit.
