Default Magazine Portfolio vs. Photobook Portfolio...

just as a starter and all purpose (for me its model photography just not broken down to different types of photos within model photography) portfolio...

What would you do with a limited budget and you want to show off your work with people you're in contact with in person and carrying around a laptop is a hassle? Magazine Portfolio very lightweight and much cheaper than a photobook would be... don't get me wrong I still plan on getting a photobook once budget is a bit better and I have more photos to choose from to really know its worth the investment to using those photos in a photobook than a magazine would be.

Please recommend me the pros/cons when it comes to using a magazine portfolio vs. a photobook portfolio.

My portfolio is just printed sheets that I can interchange inside sleeved sheets in a binder.

It's nothing special, but it works.

You need a portfolio for each subject you're interested in. For example: why the hell would sports illustrated want to see a portfolio full of seniors, babies and weddings. Study. For example I have a books for sports, travel, documentary and photojournalism. Need to tailor your portfolio whatever client you're wishing to woo!

so would you make it into a photobook, or magazine, or a less fancy choice spiral book to put prints into?

I was looking into magazines because I can maybe mail them to potential clients and would have maybe 15-30 pages of my work thats targeted to them like advertising photography, or/and catalog photography (using models), high school seniors sending them a 10page magazine issue with my photos when they become a senior?

weren't you just looking for the cheapest place to buy business cards and a cheap/free phone plan because you have next to no budget?

Why then would you want to have magazines printed to give away? Maybe i'm missing something here...

magazine could cost me up to $3-$10 depending on how many pages (for one) vs. one photobook could cost up to $30+ each
