Hi i have been recently taking photos at some motor-sport events and i'm just wondering what the requirements for selling these are? Do i need a release form from the owners of the cars?
I am also going to be doing individual shoots of cars are the requirements different for them?

Not necessarily true.
Race circuits are, in the main, private. Many put restrictions on "commercial" photography. i.e. you need a permit/permission to sell images taken at the circuits. Also many race series (F1 being a prime example) have restrictions on any commercial "exploitation" of their brand or their sponsors. You would (probably) be ok just selling them as "art" but certainly nothing more commercial than that. You would have to ask the circuit owners or race organisers rather than people on here for specifics.

To add a bit to my reply above.
Note this is for UK but I have no doubt that similar conditions would apply in the US and other countries This is a section from the "terms of entry" on MSV tickets. MSV (Motor Sport Vision) run 5 of the main tracks in the UK BRANDS HATCH, OULTON PARK, SNETTERTON, CADWELL PARK and BEDFORD AUTODROME (my highlights) 17. The use of photographic equipment is allowed for private non-commercial purposes only. Any other recording or transmission of audio, visual or audio-visual material or any information or data by any method in any media relating to the Event or any part of it is prohibited. The ticketholder hereby assigns to MSV (by way of present assignment of future rights) the copyright in any audio, visual or audio-visual materials produced by the ticketholder at the Event. So basically by entering the track and taking pictures/film you assign them the copyright ??? Full ticket terms here
