Wow! Just discovered Google Voice!
My better half is deployed right now, and we've been relying on (nearly non-existent) wi-fi to try and skype with each other. But I just made him sign up for this, and now he can text from the app on his droid anywhere he gets phone signal.
I know I went a little off topic, but I'm just so excited! Thanks so much for mentioning this. It made my day so much brighter!

Didn't know about Google voice..
Sadly, upon checking it out, it's not available to us who live in Europe/internationally.

Hopefully that'll change.

How would you all like a corporation listening to every phone conversation you have, record it, and sell the information derived?

I don't have google voice, but I went and read the TOS....
I don't see what you're talking about. Is that hat you're wearing made of aluminum foil?

Nope! American, but living in Holland at the moment. I've only actually lived in the US 7 years of my life..

It's paranoia. People said the same thing about Gmail. We all know they scan email's to serve relevant ads on the side bar. They do that same with the transcripts of voice-mail, they have NO way of listening to a phone call, because it is a normal POTs line, all Google Voice does is connect them.

Honestly, even if it were true I could give a crap if they did listen,they can listen to brides give me a 3 page shot wish list over the phone, talk about how their aunt on their mom's side can't stand their second-cousin on their dads side blah blah blah
