Default edit out other company names in commercial images?

I've been approached to have an image of mine on a billboard, The image very clearly has the name of a company (not mine) in the image. Do these need to be edited out before publishing in Canada?

as long it’s not clearly noticeable after editing I think it’s okay, but just make sure it’s extremely different and not noticeable.

Most likely, that company name will be trademarked. You can't have it advertising for someone else's brand unless the company (on your image) has given permission for its use.

I would be very careful and contact the PR person from that company, or simply clone out the name to be safe.

Even that may not be enough: if the product itself is identifiable (an iPod, for instance), it'll still be iffy. You'd have to have the company that is contracting you contact the other company and see how that works for them.

Its a pretty generic looking drilling rig. It does have "Chinook 11" written on the side of it though, so that'll have to be removed. Chinook is the rig company name, and 11 is the rig number.
