Red face Market Photo Booth

Hello Everyone,

I was hoping for some feedback. I am doing a portrait photo booth at our local market day and wanted some ideas. I will be having a canopy to make sure there isn't any harsh light. the underside of the canopy is reflective. I was thinking of using 2 5-arm spider lights with daylight bright white CFB. They measure about 3000K each. i have a saddle stool and was going to use a solid brown sheet or dark blue sheet for a backdrop. what are your thoughts? its just something i'm trying this until i get some more experience for portraiture. any last minute advice or cheap ideas would be great. i dont have a lot of money to put towards this as of yet.

Thanks.

I've had the same idea myself, but haven't implemented it yet. I haven't seen many markets with that service, so there's a potential niche to be filled. Whether it's profitable or not...try it and let us know.

3000K is really not daylight, so the images may be on the orange side. Make sure you adjust your white balance accordingly, and better yet, shoot in RAW

Ostensibly, you will be shooting portraits, so I'm not sure if this is a good thing if you already think you need more experience in shooting portraits?? What's your plan on supplying the images to the people? Are they paying for the images, or free?

I think you've got a potentially good idea. I agree with autofocus in that you need to figure out what your trying to accomplish. Are you doing this for more experience? Are you trying to build your portfolio? Are you trying to make money? What's your plan to draw people into the booth in the first place?

You mention that your wanting to try this "until I get some more experience for portraiture", so I'm thinking if you need to practice your skills maybe you need to be upfront about your level of experience. You could try to make it something that is fun and impulsive for your perspective subject. Make the booth and backdrop something fun also. People walking around at a market are most likely going to be in jeans/casual dress, so plan your backdrop accordingly. Then offer a great deal on what you come away with---think old school like the photo booth you could hit at the mall with friends? Maybe a low-res file for social networking, etc.?

A little bit of all. I really enjoy the nature photography but animals dont have pocket books and im still trying to find a way to sell what i have so far. Mostly baby ducks, baby geese, rabbits, flowers, dragonflies.

I was thinking of charging $10 for 5 photos, cd, and editing (digital background change)
