From what I have seen, it is best to not offer too much - apparently too much choice can be confusing for customers (whether it's products/packages). Tamara Lackey reaffirmed this in a workshop video I watched the other day on creative live. That's not to say you couldn't offer other products if your clients asked for them.

I think as a start at least, I would offer the obvious products: Prints (matte/gloss, framed or not) in various sizes, digital versions, canvases, etc., and go from there.

The Tamara Lackey video I mentioned above, it's free and just under 2 hours long: Are YOU Ready to Take Care of Business with Tamara Lackey? | creativeLIVE

thanks people for quick reply and for video link. Will go through

i forgot to mention last option, which i found very interesting. Matted prints. Using custom precutt matts. Any experience? i saw videos how to handle this. With precutt matts its easy way how to store, or sell work. Only one thing.I am not sure for how long these prints will stay flat. You know they are hanging between boards. So its risky business. Maybe use laminated prints?

i am thinking i could go for free shipping, sounds good for customers, what do you think.

I use precut mats all the time, hinge the photo to a backboard and havent had any problems with them not staying flat. Unless you plan on subjecting them to a high humidty environment for a prolonged period of time you should be fine.

thanks for reply!

how many sizes do you offer as matted prints?

are you selling those prints as signed, limited editions?

what exactly do i need? 1-precut matts
2-backboard
3-print itself
4-hinging tape

what else?

thanks!

I only offer 2 matted only sizes
5x7 matted to 8x10
8x12 matted to 12x16
Once I get beyond 12x16, I only offer framed unless someone requests a larger matted only version.

As far as supplies go, you have most everything listed, I would add the clear sealable art bags, especially if you are shipping.

For hinging tape I use white artist tape, not as sticky as reqular tape. I also hing the mat to the backing board so its basically 1 piece and easier to handle.

thanks a lot for reply!

- do you offer limited signed editions? if yes, where and with which pen do you signing them?

- clear art bags is great idea. Thanks

- which paper suits your needs best?

where are you bying these supplies? i found clearbag.com so far, any other interesting site?

i am from Slovakia, so eu based sites would be best, because of shipping.
