Default how many people belong to ASMP?

what are the benefits...gone to website and looked around, just curious.....

They teach you the business side of photography....this is what everybody needs.
Great networking and art directors and editors will hire an ASMP member over anyone else.
The benefits greatly outnumber the amount of yearly dues a member pays.
ALso teaches you about marketing, bidding for jobs, selling image rights and copyright.

As a Canadian automotive shooter & writer, I am member of a number of professional associations, most notably the International Motor Press Association and the American Racing Press Association.

Forgive me for sounding off, but the membership fees that ASMP are looking for are obscene!

It's a bargin for what knowledge one gains in return. Over 5,000 members think so as well.
I think they keep the fees for portfolio review and yearly dues high to discourage anybody who's really not professional quality. However, this membership is still worth every single penny.
