Default Selling your prints

For a long time now, my wife has been suggesting that I should do more with the photos I take.. There is only so much space on our walls, and to be honest, I get a bit bored of looking at my own work.

So she's suggested that I get in touch with a couple of postcard companies, and also print some prints for sale in local restaurants etc.

So my question is basically, how do I approach the postcard companies? What sized prints should I consider for the restaurants and what kind of framing?

My photos are mainly Landscape, and they're of popular, recogniseable features in the local area.

i don't know about framing but i would say for the post cards. just call up the companies that make them. Let them know you have some photos you would like them to consider and they will either ask to see them or hang up

In the USA, there's a yearly publication called "Photographer's Market" that list places that take submissions, how they want to receive the submissions, what they pay, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm not sure how much detail it has for international markets. I know it does contain a bunch of postcard companies' information, but you can't really go wrong with cold calling. Worst they can do is say "no, thanks."

Same goes for local businesses. Take a print portfolio and ask that they hang it on your wall. Check your prices though. Depending on the market, your photography won't sell if it's priced too high, or if it's not priced high enough.
