Question which site is better to use

I am trying to start a site and not sure which place to choose - i think i have narrowed my choices down to Smugmug or Zenfolio but not sure which on would be better - I don't have much web design experiance so i want somthing farily easy - i could learn html coding but would rather spend my spare time taking photos. Or is there a better site to use? thanks for the info

I started with Zenfolio, left for SmugMug, and just came back to Zenfolio.
The biggest factors in my return to Zen were:
* SmugMug required much more customization to achieve the style I wanted and therefore more maintenance.
* Zenfolio supports an unlimited gallery hierarchy, whereas SmugMug limits to 2.
* Zenfolio has a lower sales commission
* I prefer Mpix to Bay Photo

If you decide to use Zenfolio, please feel free to use my referral discount code: HCW-C2N-T9Z

Thank you for this helfpul information. I am in the same boat as ldenne and as I was using the search feature at DPS to compare the two sites, most of the information was at least 6 months old and I was not sure if some of the pros/cons between the 2 sites had changed.

I have looked at the introductory menus for both sites and have this question for those of you using/trying Zenfolio:

I can see on SmugMug that they walk you through the domain name selection process using GoDaddy. They then can use the selected/approved/purchased name as your domain name on SmugMug.
The introductory menus on Zenfolio do not say how they address the domain name process (I have not gotten as far as the trial membership so far). Anyone know how it works here? Is it as easy? I do not have a domain name yet but some of those I wish to use do appear to be available.

Any help appreciated.

Yes, I also found the custom domain setup a lot easier under Zenfolio. I had to jump through a lot more hoops to get all of my sub-domain and webmail setup to work with the SmugMug custom domain. But either site will support your own personal domain.

I haven't used Smug but Zenfolio is very user friendly. Setting up galleries is really easy and even pointing your domain name from GoDaddy is a breeze.

I have appreciated all the info shared here so far.. I have started a Zenfolio trial and am working on customization.

I need some guidance as to logo design. Good websites with design help? Can I do this myself? How did some of you go about this?

Any insight would be helpful.

TIA.
