Default Help needed

Hello all,
I'm an amateur photographer and my girlfreind is going to Hong Kong (we live in India) to train people to do their own make-up. Now the organizer there has given us a quote of 3000HKD per day. Do you think I should ask her to say no and do it myself ?
My photostream is at Flickr: anantsinghal1987's Photostream

Any help is welcome !

Kind of confused on what you are asking. Are you saying they want her to come out and teach people and have HER pay for someone to photograph THEIR event????

My wife makes jewelry and plans on teaching classes in the near future. If someone ever want her to come and teach a class, and then tells her they need her to pay for a photographer to shoot it, I would tell her to tell them where to go personally.

If that wasn't what you were getting at, sorry. That's my answer to that situation anyway

You are correct ! They want her to teach, AND pay for a photographer, to advertise for "their" event !
She is going to tell them to hire me for half the rate.

why at half the rate. If I understand correctly, they are giving her 3000hkd to hire a photographer - so hire you at that rate. No sense in taking a less than what they are willing to pay.

Go for the full rate, if not, next time they have an event that needs to be covered they'll pay 1500hkd. Don't screw yourself and future photographers.

$3000HK$ per day ($385 USD) is a pretty darn good wage in China, I imagine they are expecting professional work.
Might be best to sit this one out....

About $400 US a day to work in another country? I hope travel+expenses is extra, because at that rate you're paying to work for them.

The prices in Hong Kong are comparable to New York, I paid about 200 a night for a pretty good hotel.

No, an additional $400/day to hire a (local) photographer...
At least that was my understanding.

But isn't he trying to make the arguement that HE should be the photographer?

The way I read it: His girlfriend is going to Hong Kong to teach makeup. She was given a budget of about $400 for a photographer. He is asking us if he should have her cancel the local photog and do it himself (presumably for the $400).

I'm saying a $400 daily rate for out of country work is a joke without paid travel+expenses.
