For those of you who have sold prints to customers online, do you generally offer both 8x12s and 8x10s or just one of the two? I know from my last job most customers seem to want to order the standard 8x10s, which cause a cropping problem for images with the 2:3 aspect ratio. So, do you even bother to offer the 8x12s, or do you upload separate images for the 8x10s and 8x12s?

Shoot loose, crop for 8x10s as standard.

We will offer an 8x12 option only when an 8x10 crop won't work, or when the customer wants a full image with no loss of data

Okay, thanks for the replies. I wish 8x12 frames were more common so customers might be more inclined to order that size. I can imagine a lot of newbie pros who learn to shoot "loose" after customers who order 8x10s complain about having their heads cut off.

I have it as an option and surprisingly people order them that way and go get custom frames. I try and shoot loose but with a 8.2 mp camera you only can shoot so lose within limits..

Portraits I shoot with enough head room to allow for various standard print sizes like 8x10 and 5x7. For my landscape and floral work, I only sell it in whatever aspect ratio of the processed image is. There are plenty of options for either mating to a standard frame size, or buying non-standard frames online, that it's never been an issue.

Could always go to a D3 series, and have the 4:5 ratio guides as an option.
