Default Postcards?

A lady on another forum suggested I use some of my landscape photos for postcards and sell them on etsy. What do you think and if you think it is a good idea, where do you suggest I have them printed?

Any advice at all would be appreciated!

You might sell a few at the local nic- nack tourists stores. Not much a seller these days with the internet.

Got to agree with Jim if you can find places to sell them then it might be worth while, thought of you can sell your images as numbered limited edition framed prints you might make a bit more money.

All the best

I just got an email from Mpix.com this morning announcing a sale on folded or flat post cards at 25% off with promo code "press25" entered at checkout. I know Mpix does some really quality work. Never had postcards done through them but the price seems right.

I looked into this before, not sure what it's like in Kentucky, but in the UK a very small number of companies have the postcard market cornered, and sell them at prices that small business like us can't even produce them for. So unless you find a spe******t retailer willing to sell them at premium prices you might struggle to sell them in stores.

As for etsy, I don't know, I'm on there but haven't sold anything through it, I keep hearing about how the prices people charge for things are too low making it impossible to make any money through it.

EDIT: why is speshelist censored (I had to mis-spell it there to stop it being censored)?

Mokka, did you find anyone decent to print with? I'd quite like to get some of my local pics as postcards in the local tourist shops. I'd need to get them printed at 50p or less.

Vistaprint are the only UK printers I'm aware of where you can get postcards for less than 50p. If you're going one-side it could be as low as 20p, but bear in mind most postcards are about 20p retail so you have to make absolutely clear that this is a premium product, and the photographs have to be better than anything else out there and the paper quality better, the latter of which will bump up prices to almost definitely more than 20p.

My advice is go with recycled paper and badge your postcards as eco-friendly.

Also, with Vistaprint, be wary of all the offers, they come and go all the time, they're never charging the same price for product X more than a week in succession, so if you go there and they aren't doing an offer on postcards I'd advise you wait until they are, you won't be waiting long.
