I can't believe people wait so long!

Today I got a call from the catering manager at a small, upscale private club nearby. I was in a meeting and the voicemail message he left said he had a small wedding that required about 2 hours of shots. I called him right back and got his voicemail. Left a message.
A short time later he calls me back and tells me the wedding is this Saturday and another photographer called back before I did. They hired the first person who called.
I couldn't have done it anyway, but I am kind of surprised at such a last minute request.
Anybody else get last minute requests like that?

Had a few 2 weeks in advance but akways gave top price+travel because I hate short notice nonsence.

be glad you didn't get it..they are obviously unprepared and that would just make your day miserable anyway.

You don't know all the details. Charge full price but the photographer could have had a real emergency and cancelled but couldn't find one of his photog friends to cover.

Its not necessary the B & G fault.

That's true. Stuff happens. But I would have quoted above my usual if they hadn't already hired someone and if I had the day free. Glad they got someone.
