No.... I think you can sell prints & stock photos at any age. I am not going to go as far as to say you can't do portraits & weddings, just a lot of people will "feel" you are too young to do it and overlook you no matter how good you are.

No, if you are good enough you are old enough.

I agree that its unlikely anyone will hire you for wedding etc, but if you could look at other areas and maybe explore that one once you're a bit older then I think it'll only benefit you.

What areas did you have in mind?

People have made a living photographing things in their own backyard.I think digital has made photography ultra-competitive. You need a hook and sometimes that may mean that you will need to travel. Ultimately, it will depend on your imagery. Traveling or not.

With customers of a certain age (over 35 crowd), if you plan to advertise, I recommend you learn to spell first.

Not to sound harsh. The reality of today's world is that young people don't know how to spell, and it annoys "grown-ups" such as myself. I wouldn't hire ANYONE who couldn't spell or use correct grammar, regardless of their age, because it appears unprofessional.

Actually, I think you are a bit too young. I say this because you most likely need more experience. Sure you can practise and take pics of your friends and of landscapes and other things that interest you. However, to start a side-business or to get involved with contracts and money etc. I think it would be best if you waited until you were a bit older.

Read, practise, and learn and get ready for when you are a bit older and then you can become an amazing photographer. Think about it... if you start now, practising and shooting everything you can, in two or three years you will have so much practise and experience that you WILL be ready to make some money taking pictures. At such a young age now, I would be afraid that you will get taken advantage of.

One of the hallmarks fo dyslexia is the inablity to spell or even learning to spell after you memorise all the words you are capable of memorising. Din't be so predigous.

Sir, I'm an Occupational Therapist and a Director of Rehab. The last thing I am is prejudiced. However, it is commonly known that the younger generations currently show a lack of fortitude with spelling due to the use of computer spell correctors and texting abbreviations. One of the hallmarks of a successful businessperson is one that manages to present himself and his materials in a marketable way, which includes proper spelling and grammar. This appears to be a very prodigious young man, with the potential for success early in life. Best to be honest with him now, and help him to correct that which may be correctable.

With portraits, you can do that for your friends or school activities. You can also ask a pro to bring you on during gigs. Show your stuff and if ever he pics some shots, you can ask for a pay. You have nothing to lost. You're very young. You can learn a lot by being there--swimming on water!

This is true, but would only apply to written work here, anyone can use a spell check in either the browser, forum, or a word processor to make sure their material is presented correctly.

See 5 seconds and the above was fixed...

In business, presentation is more often then not, what lands a job, a contract or a call back... Just saying...
