Default How would YOU charge for this job?

My village is going to be updating their promotional materials and want to hire me to do the photography. They want a series of shots that reflect the great quality of life in our town (families at the waterpark, outdoor dining, local concerts, etc.)

Any suggestions about how to charge for this type of work?

Here's how my stuff breaks down

Shooting time: $25-50/hour
Editing Time: $50/hour
Creative Fee: Set your own

Equipment Fees: $150 (in my case, this is 1% of the total cost of all the equipment I use)
Rentals: Cost + 25%
Expandable materials (batteries, etc): Cost + 25%
Travel: Cost +25%

Deliverables:
Materials (printing, etc): Cost + 25%
Services (scanning, etc): Cost + 25%
Prep and personal (Stuff that I do to ready deliverables, prepare, organize, etc that IS NOT editing): (materials+Services cost) / 2, + $25/hour of my time.
Rights and Licensing: Variable

A lot of this you end up giving as an estimate, but you should be conservative (estimate higher than likely).

Thanks, maxharvard. Since it will probably take me a few weeks to get shots in all the locations around town in good light, invoices are probably the best solution.

Thanks for the info, OsmosisStudios. It's always helpful to see how someone else breaks down their time.

I don't charge by the hour, but per job. Sometimes if you charge by the hour and it only takes four hours, then you are out money. I try to charge a creative fee or daily rate. Everything else is extra.

I charge by the day (or half day) plus license fees and expenses.
That is how I would charge for this job.
