Default Portrait Mini-Sessions - What are they?

I just came across a promo from a photographer around town. They are offering these portrait mini sessions for family, senior, engagement, etc... I was just curious what they were and if any of you had any experience with them? Looks like they are scheduling a time frame and place (a local park) and taking sign-ups.

What the heck are these?

what's the link, maybe we can get more clues from that?

I'm just presuming that it's literally you come in, sit down, snap snap snap, and you're off. Minimal time/pay and they'll probably try to make money off the prints.

It's exactly what it sounds like...

you show up to a venue, and assign 30-minute time slots. You save on travel time as everyone is coming to you, sessions are short so you get away with offering smaller packages/numbers of images, and the client pays less/smaller sitting fee...

more of a 'drum up business' tactic from what I can tell.

Yep, you got it. Several local photographers in my area do it. Especially around Easter and usually sometime in November to get people in for Christmas pics.

^^ What they said.

It's a fairly common practice; I know loads of photographers that do this.
