Default So I've thought long and hard about this and.....

What I REALLY want to do is shoot still for movies that are being filmed. Right now I shoot wedding and special events and I'm doing pretty well but I want to shoot stills for films...movies, plays ETC. I HAVEN'T a CLUE as to how to start. I DO have a friend who just graduated from Full Sail and he is a videographer. He wants to start shooting short films and promotional stuff (and he's good) And he wouldn't mind me shooting some still for promo for him. I wall ABSOLUTELY will shoot his next even for him but ANY other advise? Is it really who you know?

Networking your portfolio will go a long way to getting you face time with those that make those decisions.

Check for independent films being shot in your area, Network to people there.

I've done three so far in the past month, two for credit and last one paying..

From the first one the rest came just from networking with the directors.

Also shooting indie films is great usually because the demands are not as high, Ie no need to blimp the camera cause you will usually be shooting when their cameras are not rolling.

You will get a lot of exposure that way..

Thanbks, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking. I live near FullSail and there are ALWAYS tons of student films being shot. It's good you don't need the blimp too cause I think those are expensive. I was wondering about how to get around that.
