First Event Need Advice

Hi all,

So I am shooting an event for an organization that I belong to tonight. They ended up asking me when the photog that normally shoots (a pro that is also a member of this organization) had another gig. I

Anyway, I hoping to use this experience to build a portfolio and for practice but I want to make the MOST our of this experience and am pretty nervous about the whole thing.

For those that typically shoot these types of receptions what is your approach? What kind of gear do you bring? I have my one camera, 430 speedlite, 28-80mm, 75-300, 50mm 1.8 and the kit 18-55mm.

I'm probably in over my head but they are well aware of the fact that I'm not a pro, I'm not pretending to be a pro, and they shouldn't expect pro results and they still wanted me to do this.

Anyway, I appreciate any guidance you are willing to share!
