Default Yet another Facebook question

Please forgive the dumb question. I have been out of the fb world for a couple of years, and have lost touch with how the system works.

So, I've managed to create myself a business 'page', which is linked to a personal profile (this really wasn't what I wanted to do, but it seems like the only way it'll work).
I am gathering 'friends' on my profile, but I really want to connect with people thru the business page.
If I invite my friends to like my business page, and they all get clicking and 'like' it, does this mean that they now have a connection to that page? So that when I post updates on the business page, those friends will see the posts on their news feed??
I hope this is how it'll go.
Also, does a person have to be my friend in order to like the business page?

If you go to the "Account" link on the top right, there is an option "Use Facebook as a page". This allows you to use Facebook as that page, which I believe will give you some separation from your personal profile if you want. You can go back there to go back as your main login persona.

No, they do not have to be your friend on your personal page in order to like your business page. Anyone with a facebook account can view and like your business page.

Thanks, Nicole.

Another question - These folks, who now 'like' my business page, will see updates that I post on that page. Does this mean that their friends will also see my updates? If those second tier of friends are looking at my friend's profile page?

I am amazed at the speed that contacts can be made thru face book. I have about a dozen friends already, and I've only been live for 24 hours. By the end of the week I'll have friended half the town.

If you tag one of your followers in a post or they share something you've posted on their wall, then their friends will see it. Otherwise, only your fans will see what you post.

You also have to remember, that the default setting in Facebook only shows updates from friends and pages that you interact with the most, so if you don't want your posts hidden, you need to make sure you're posting stuff that people want to comment on, share, or at the very least "like". If you can get a dialog going so that people continue to comment, that's even better.
