This may or may not have been covered in a past thread, but I'm curious on everyone's thoughts about dress code for working a wedding as a photographer. I've been asked by a photog buddy to be the second photographer for a wedding that he's working. What are your thoughts about the dress code. If you work weddings, do you dress formal or at least dress up? Or do you just go for practicality and comfort as you are "working?'

I'm in no way-shape-or-form an expert on the matter but I'm certain you'll be expected to suit up, unless we're talking about a country or one of those "themed" weddings perhaps.
![]() Everyone else will have made the effort, and as a paid professional you certainly should too. Of course a degree of comfort, or shall we say flexibility is essential to do the job, but that doesn't mean jeans and a T-shirt, no. =)

If your buddy is the main photographer then ask him/her.
Basically you should dress smart. If it is a black tie affair then you go with that. "normal" wedding, then suit and tie.

They're lucky. I wear the same clothes every wedding. I've those pants since 1997. They still fit like a glove... a surgical glove. |
