Default Small wedding.

Ok normally I shoot full weddings 8 -10hours long the whole shabang with 2 or 3 photographers and full coverage. I charge around 800-1200 + prints.. I was just asked today to do a little small wedding no bridal party just bride groom and family. It will be very small not needing the over the top coverage like normal. I will have them still order prints however I don't think charging my full price will really be fair. So im thinking like 500$ + prints.. I still have to get details on what it all is included.

Also you have 20+ years experience. I only have officially had my part time weekend business for 3 years. Been shooting for money for 4 years. And this is a co worker who I have worked with for 5 years. If it wasn't a co worker I think I would charge at least 800.. Think I should ask what her price range is?

No. Give her your price and stick to it. If you asked me what my price range was i would say, "anywhere between free and your price, what do you charge?"

My sister asked me yesterday to shoot her reception. She has a package photog who will do her on-the-beach and family shots, but nothing at the reception - first dance, cake cutting, etc. Originally she had asked me to do "candids only". Her new request, complete with "I want you to organize it and pose us", is a bit beyond my comfort range and equipment. I have no off camera flash. She then told me for $80, the minister knows a lady who will do this, and provide the edited pictures of their choosing on a disc for 3$ each. Given prices Ive seen here, and the "no digital images!" nazis, I told her to take it, its a steal.

Will your expenses be any less? How long do they need coverage? How does that affect your overall time commitment including pre and post production? Even if it is only a few hours coverage, that pretty much assures you can't book another assignment on that day. What if someone comes to you next week wanting to book a wedding at full price on the same day? Just a few things to think about.

Yes my expenses will be less, normally I higher 2 photographers.. However this wedding wont need that. So right there that's 200-400$ expenses that will go out of the window. Also given that she is not going to have a large wedding and has non brides maids or grooms men the amount of pictures will probably be quite less so that is less time in PP.. I am trying to find out how long the wedding is going to be. I am thinking from her description it will be maybe a total of 4 hours. verses my normal 8-10 hour wedding. She said she still needs to iron out the details of what all is going to be in the wedding.

There are no small weddings! By the time the mother in laws on both sides get done with you, it's way too much work for the price offered. Think of all that time spent behind the computer editing and post processing. I speak from experience, not only the shooting side, but dealing with these types. It's worth more with what you're offering.

Your right about that. I will talk to my wife about it. I need to get allot more details about the wedding its self before I decide. It also will be sort of a wedding present for them in a way since we are co workers.

Well then, that might be a horse of a different color. I have given my friends sort of a "break!" depending on what they want.

So that's what im trying to figure out is what the break price will be. Once I find out the requirements of the job I will post them up.. Right now I know its gonna be small and on a Friday at 7pm 11/11/2011.. Got to ask them if they did that on purpose LOL.. Just noticed the date.
