Hello all! Newb here.
![]() Got a question regarding website templates: I am just getting started with photography as a money-making venture. Been shooting for myself for 4 years, building skills, and getting some side jobs and building a client base. Now I'm ready to get a website going (I already have a facebook fan page), and I've talked to some web creators. I just don't have $2k to put up for a website right now. Soooo, I've been scanning some website templates for photogs, and it seems that all of them require Adobe Photoshop as a software. I only have PSE 9, and don't have the money to fork out for the primo Photoshop program. Some of the sites have said I could download the free demo of Photoshop, so I'm wondering does that mean I only have to have Photoshop for the creation of the site? Are there any website templates that you can direct me to that work off PSE? Many thanks!!! |

Try using Prophotoblogs, all you need is a domain name and a hosting account, which you can get pretty cheap these days, They use word press, so its like a blog, but you can set up other pages so it will work like a website. I use them and reccomend them highly.
http://www.prophotoblogs.com/ To answer your question i can not think why you would need adobe to edit a template. The web site templates i used all had the graphics done in adobe, but all the coding is done in an HTML editor, i use dreamweaver, and i had to work out HTML, java etc while i was at it. That came naturally to me as i had the basics from high school, back when internet was impressive. If you know HTML it is possible to do basic edits in notepad, try searching w3, they have good resources that can help you. But i would not reccomend this. It is a bit hit and miss if you dont know what you are doing. The word press way is pretty good option to start with. You can get plenty of themes that are prefessional and you dont need software to edit them. HTH |

They should work in PSE too. The photoshop files that you usually get are layered images and provided so that you can edit images etc easier. If you opt of something like Mambo, Joomla or Wordpress, you can get templates - or "themes" - that just load straight in.
