Question What to charge?

Hi, I have recently been asked to do a group photograph for the local football team. They do not want any action shots just 1 group shot! Also they want nineteen 6"x 8" and one 8" x 10" prints of the image, no frames just standard prints. I am not a professional, but have recently been asked and referred to do lots of shoots for people. As it has started to take up alot of my time, I have decided to charge. The club are quite happy to pay, and have requested a quote, I dont want to price too high and loose the work, but I dont want to price too low and be seen as a cheap deal. I would appreciate any advice you can give and look forward to hearing your replies.
Thanks
Emmy

I'd speculate an hour for setup and shooting. I'd charge $100 for that. Then I'd base the prints according to the usage of them. If they're going to use it to sell more tickets, then it's more valuable to them which makes the prints more expensive. If they're going to use them internally, then that makes the prints cheaper.

You need to know the use.

And you don't want to price too low with promises for future work from the club. Promises don't mean anything unless both parties sign a contract. What is your 8 x 10 appears on a billboard, or in either a newspaper or sporting magazine? Think about the extra $$$$ you won't be getting.

I have no Idea what the prints are going to be used for! I didnt think to ask. They are all going to be of the same photo so I was asuming they were going out to members/directors of the club maybe. Ill try and find out, what would the difference in price be for the prints if they were for personal or commercial? Thanks in advance x

Depends on how they'll be used determines the picture rights you sell them. Web, advertising, commercial different greatly from personal pixs. Go to ASMP.org and check out picture rights.
