Default New Website Design

After HATING the place-holder template I had in place, I decided to re-do the site. Tell me what you think.

Ok.... 2 things.

#1.... you gotta warn people about THE F*CKING NUDE LADY BITS!!! SOME PEOPLE ARE AT WORK DAMNIT!

#2. Under "commercial" or whatever you call it... that's not really commercial photography... that's party photography or something or other.

very nice.
one thing you should take into consideration is the fact that the photos in the portfolio take a few seconds to load after clicking them but there is no sign that something is loading.
at first I thought I didn't click right or something.

How thorough do you want us to be? Are you looking for a full critique or just a yeah or nay on the design? My first impression. I really liked the black and white color scheme, and the way the accent images you use tie into that. I see several things that need to be addressed if this is a near final version of the site.

Looks good.
One thing though. The pictures you have under "Still Life", they really aren't. I think you need a new heading.

I like it... but the shot of the camera. it's a little crooked.. is it supposed to be?

I also would have preferred a shot of you in the bio rather than a lens.

Nice and clean, and everything loaded quickly for me.

Not sure I'd go with full frontal nudity in my portraits right off the bat though...

I'd say stick a nice portrait of yourself in there instead of a camera.

I'd replace the images of the cameras and lenses throughout the site with other b/w portraits
(what you're trying to sell)

clients won't care what camera you have, I'd say use the opportunity to wow them with a wicked and dramatic portrait instead.

I like the overall styling and font.. nice and simple, but it does come off as a website about cameras.
I guess it reminds me of this a bit.

I wouldn't ask people to e-mail first without phoning, or appologising (almost) for not being able to respond immediatley. I seldom get cold calls.. 99% of people e-mail because its less confrontational and it's easier for them to back out if they don't like your response.

Make your e-mail a link rather than a piece of text if you can... then they will also be more likely to e-mail instead.

Is it possible to set-up an OS-AM address instead of a Hotmal address? it would seem more professional. (after all.. you do want people to trust you enough to throw their money at you)

Overall it's a very nice job...

MaxHarvard: The nudes have been removed, though for other reasons. The old site had a disclaimer in the main portfolio page, but I didn't add it to this one. My mistake. As for the "commercial" section, those are images shot for business uses. They're nightclub shots. I'll hopefully be filling that out more in the near future. But thanks.

MrJones: Unfortunately the way the gallery images work at the moment is that the large images are loaded on the click. I'm adjusting that to have them load with the page to make their changing faster.

dakwegmo: I was looking mainly just for a general yes or no, but if you have anything specific, feel free to PM me about them.

mikerob2334 and scootermcq: Thanks for your kind words!

Anonymouskiwi1: I don't particularly like "Still Life" either, so if you have a better suggestion, I'm all ears

Niresangwa: The main image on the front page IS actually straight. I'll take another look at it.

candleman: The background images of cameras/equipment aren't there to show off the equipment. They're background images that show that I take photos. I'm keeping them, sorry. As for the e-mail vs phone: I prefer working through e-mail, so I would prefer to receive business contacts through e-mail. The phone number there is also my cell phone, so I dont want it going off while im at my other job, or late night/early morning, as I've had in the past. The e-mail is an image instead of a link because I had it as a link before, but was getting flooded with spam. This way it can't be trolled by spambots. As far as setting up the e-mail host, I will look into it as well. It has always bothered me, if I'm honest.
