Default Can I Start Here . . . . .

I am having a bit of a lull Client wise which is a great concern, it's making me see that I need to get my name out there and I've been sitting trying to figure out a way that I can do that and do that NOW!!!

The one thing that struck me is I have my business cards but only give them to existing Clients (to pass out for referrals etc) and what I'm wondering is a good, quick place to start to drop my cards into the mail boxes of my neighbours??

I know there is a fair bit over and above this but I'm just looking for something quick that as I said before I can do NOW!!

You could always stand in the middle of the street with a shotgun and intermittently fire it off in between rounds of, "GET YOUR PHOTOS!! GET YOUR PHOTOS HEERRREEEE!!"

Just a thought.

You would certainly raise a few eyebrows that way.

Depending on what type of photography that you do, look for organization within your area that are for your target client.
If you mostly do seniors, go to the high schools to advertise and hand out info.
If you prefer babies and children, go the pediatricians offices and lay out info in the waiting room.
Think along the lines of where would my target client hang out. That's what I do anyways.

Correct me if I am mistaken, but I believe that it is a federal offense to even open some else's mailbox.

That is true, but US federal law doesn't really apply to mailboxes in the UK. I assume that's where he lives bases on the .co.uk domain name in the signature.

Yeah, I live in Scotland and there are no laws about putting something into a neighbours mail or letterbox.

Jan-Feb and Mar to a degree are usually slow for photography, so the lull may just be normal for the time of year. Do you have previous years to compare?

Not really, the last few years I've spent learning and only shooting things for family. I decided to take the now or never plunge last September and have never been over the top busy. My best day was a mini session promotion last November.

I know that my marketing is letting me down greatly. I have not really done any, other than Facebook but now I'm looking at ways to get outside facebook and start doing this properly (if that makes sense).

I've even toyed with the idea of going a walk with my camera and asking strangers if I can take a picture of their pet, then handing a business card over and letting them visit the website to see and potentially purchase the photo.
