Default Microstock for fun and Money

I have been doing microstock for about 2 1/2 years now. This year I might make $3000. But its a cumulative effort in that my images submitted 2 years ago are still selling. My portfolio has grown from a couple of hundred images to about a thousand at 7 different sites. So each year I get better. My acceptance rate improves and so do my sales.

I wrote about it here:

Microstock “Simplified” – - Bobkeenan PhotographyBobkeenan Photography

I do it to afford my gear. I think its feasible that I could get to $10+ K per year so that it would help pay for small trips.

The great thing is that it never seems like work. There are some annoying things like keywording. But when it becomes tedious...I just stop and pick it up the next day.

Bob, thank you so much for your post! I just said to my husband earlier today that I should give that a try to pay for my new camera. I will keep this in mind when taking pictures and I'm going to go through my images - I only have one that I think is sellable...lol!

Seems like a fair way to get new gear. In the future I might give it a shot. Thanks for the link to your break down.

Is there any downside to doing this type of stuff with your work? Is there any chance you would lose your rights by signing images over to a micro stock image place?
