Default Comparison Prices!

I think this may be a helpful thread for everyone... a little questionnaire if you will!

1) What is your session fee?
2) How much is an 8x10 print?
3) Do you sell high-res digital files, and if so, for how much?
4) What city do you live in? (Because prices will differ based on the area, I would assume).

For me, my answers are below:
1) I charge $150 for a 1-hour session
2) $40
3) Currently I don't sell high-res files, but am considering changing that.. though I'm having much difficulty deciding what a high-res file is worth!
4) I'm just outside of Toronto.

1) What is your session fee?
1 subject, $75,
2-3 subjects, $95
4 subjects $120 and up
+ out of area location fees
2) How much is an 8x10 print? $60, ($100 for 8x10 giclee)
3) Do you sell high-res digital files, and if so, for how much? Rarely, but will offer as part of an event option at $400 - $750 based on number of photos included
4) What city do you live in? (Because prices will differ based on the area, I would assume). General CT area, but on occasion have done work in NYC, and other parts of New England

These prices are strictly for our portrait jobs. We use a different price structure for our other photography services.

Truth be told, Jan & Feb are very slow, though this Jan was better than last by a mile.
That will turn around by mid-march though.

Does my heart good to see your pricing Jim. It just makes me crazy when I see "cheaped down" pricing on our industry's products and services. ("cheaped down" is a close cousin to "dumbed down" in my book)

Whenever I see photographer's pricing that's wayyy too cheap I always think to myself "I guess their work must not be very good, if it's only worth that much."

Varies on the job to be honest, it's more events I do at the moment (portrait packages I'm still working on) but as a guide..

1) What is your session fee?

Hire me out an its: £80/hour (including travel time) + transport at £0.45/mile
Hire my photobooth and it's: £700 for 3 hours use. Setup/local travel free

2) How much is an 8x10 print?

Me: 9x6 £10 onsite, £15 post event
Photobooth: 4 images (grid/8strip) on 6x4 paper- unlimited, free, for the duration

3) Do you sell high-res digital files, and if so, for how much?

With a PR company yes, it's included in the total costing, a 4 hours job might be £500
With a budget wedding package no, but £300 gets them 2hours, 1 9x6 print, 20 "5x7" res on a disc.

4) What city do you live in? (Because prices will differ based on the area, I would assume).

West Midlands, UK

Hope that helps :P
