Default Frames - custom or store?

So my exibition is getting closer and i am looking at frames.

I can get each frame done locally for $120, 50cm x 70cm with flush hooks as per the gallery request. No glass or perspex and no matting, it is just a plain wooden frame about 3/4 inch wide. Pretty pricey, i was not happy.

My mum just came back from adelaide with a 50 cm x 70 cm black wooden frame about 3/4 inch wide from Ikea, for $29.95. Although i woild need to get the flush fitting on the back.

I still need to get matts for them and i can not see any difference in quality between the 2 frames.

Do you think it would be rude to ask a framer to add the fittings to the cheaper frame? Or should i just spend the extra money?

HTH

Ask the framer if they offer it as a service. If they do, then go for it.

Yep, it doesn't hurt to ask. If they say no, all around and see if you can find someone that will. Also, you might want to get a breakdown on the price to see if you can do part of it yourself. Around me, matting tends to be ridiculously expensive, so I tend to buy those online, and mat the prints myself, before taking them to a shop to be framed and finished.

Thanks.
Me and matting does not go. I can never get it right, its just not one of my skills. So i need to get some one to do it for me, especially since they wil all be for sale.

I alked the framer and he was offended, so i found the flush fitting hardware and can do that myself, and i even found myself someone to matt them.

So far so good.
