Default What do you do for contact sheets?

I have a fairly crappy "photo printer" so I don't know if that's even an option...
WallMart? Pro shop?

This will be my first time submitting "contact sheets" from digital....

For who?

Photoshop has a function that allows you to automatically make contact sheets from a folder. You determine what size the images are and what size paper you're printing to.

You could use that and then have it printed where you get your deliverables printed.

Do you have a Costco? I did my own personal research, ordered 5 of the exact same prints from various "pro" type places like mpix and whhc, as well as from Costco......I saw very very little different in color or paper quality. I am sure with contact sheets considering that the photos will be small, that the differences will be even less noticable.

Adobe Bridge has a setting to make contact sheets via a PDF.

That's what I do.

It's for magazine submission....I don't really expect much more than the usual, rejection or a couple images sold. The submission is unsolicited.
It's not really about the setup...I'm using lightroom to set up the sheets. But what kind of quality print are they generally expecting/wanting? The printer I use (WHCC) has a minimum order so I'd probably get a few extra 8x10's for personal use made if I went there...
Used to be a "contact sheet" was for quick selection..to decide which slides to pull and put on the lightbox...now with digital files I don't really understand the point. The originals will be supplied in digital format as well. I would guess it's just a "quick glance" just to decide if it's worth even loading the images. In that case I wouldn't think print quality is real important.

I would guess the images per page is the decision you have to make.
2x2 or 4x4 of decent quality if you have 10-24 images.
If you have a much wider range, then I would think 5x9 would do

Are they paying you for the submission? That would be my guide as to the money I am going to outlay.

The magazine stuff I submit is VERY low res, they don't want their inboxes full of junk.

I would say, email is better than snail mail. Quicker too.

sorry, misunderstood.
I am sure if they know the original is correct res, they would be happy with low res contact sheets emailed

They want everything "snail mail"...which seems odd. But they pay a minimum of $90/image for one time non-exclusive use; more for larger/cover...
