Default Yes, another website hosting Q

Hola a todos

On december 31st I got laid off from my job and since I believe that things happen for a reason I decided this is the time to focus a 100% on my photography.

I recently asked a question in this forum about pricing and I got a great reply wich I'm going to apply. I'll have 2 "companies" one "DEPA11" for small to medium markets and the other one with my name on it for high end weddings. This is gonna go for a while until I get full time into high end weddings.

Now, I'm ready to set up a website (until now I only had my Facebook and Flikr pages) but in order to get into that high end market I need a more professional image.

I was about to buy a pro package from Smugmug but I visited some of the pages they host and found them really too slow to load. In fact, too slow that potential customer may loose interest waiting for the page to load. Acording to other forum where I raised the question the problem is their templates and they say that they are working on them to fix this issue. The option is not to use their templates and fully customize your page yourself, but I know nothing about CSS, HTML code and that kind of stuff you need to do it.

So I visited Zenfolio, a little bit cheaper and they have something I liked a lot, you can send mails to your contacts using the same look and feel as your page (there are other things I like, but then Smugmug has it's key points too like HD video)

So, and I know this has being question here a lot but this is the best place to ask, which you recomend and if you have smugmug is it slow when loading? Since I'm in Mexico I won't use the printing service or the store at all, All I want to have is a nice clean, elegant page that gives me more bang for my bucks.

Gracias!

I have used both SmugMug and Zenfolio. I did not notice a speed issue with loading SmugMug's templates, but I did suffer through numerous downtimes, planned and unplanned, some quite lengthy, which is why I left the service for Zenfolio. I've been very pleased with Zenfolio's interface, uptime, and ease of use in the ten months I've been using that service.

ETA: If you do decide to go with Zenfolio and want to save a few bucks, my referral code is DUQ-C5J-MB8 :-)

After conducting a smugmug vs zenfolio search in Google and ending more confused since I found split reviews (Like Coke vs Pepsi) I'm gonna flip a coin and decide. Hope I can post my website here soon for you to critique.

Best regards to all of u

Both services have a free trial so no harm in trying both out for yourself :-)
