Default Looking to assist a professional family photographer in the bay area

Hi All!

I'm a beginning photographer who wants to develop my skills as well as learn the ropes of the business. I'm wondering if any of you that are in or near San Jose Ca would like an assistant during the next 6 to 8 months? I know this would mean some work on your part, i.e. basically mentoring me, but I'm hoping that someone would be willing to help me out. I am aiming to start a business that focuses on photographing family and children but am finding that I have NO idea where to start. So, is there someone out there who wouldn't mind learning me a thing or two? Or maybe you know of someone? Or maybe you don't want an assistant but would be willing to talk with me over coffee...or pie? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thank you and happy shooting =)

-Emily

Sorry you don't seem to be getting any responses. So I'm bumping your post so others may see it again.

PS you can send me pie to Holland please.

I'll send you pie Fuzzy, if you send me the pastry that Amsterdam is famous for (a brownie of some sort or other)

Emily,

From what I have seen from other Bay Area DPS members who have posted on this site, I don't recall any of them having established portrait businesses. Maybe that explains the lack of responses. Kind of hard for me to believe with 6 million people in the Bay Area...

I guess you could check out Yelp and find some local photographers with good reviews and offer to be their intern.

Thanks BigFuzzy, Scooter and Krusty (all EXCELLENT handles by the way!). I'm bummed that no one is replying but I guess that just means I'll have to work a little harder, right? I've e-mailed a couple of my favorite photographers in my area but none have responded...what is it with photographers? Are we all just flakey by nature? j/k =) Time to pull out the persistant hat and become a little bit of a pest

BigFuzzy, pie is en-route to Holland...will leave at will-call at the nearest post office
