Default Anyone ever get their work in a small shops window front?

Hey all, just wondering if any of you have ever had your work put into a small shop's window front for exposure? I noticed a couple places that had photographer's work put out in their windows in my area. I'm actually interesting in doing this, but I really don't know how to approach places or what places to approach. I do wedding, engagement, and lifestyle portraits.

Thanks all!

D

Ask the shop owner that is displaying the photos how to get yours displayed. It might be there is a camera club involved. We have an artists organization that even holds an event each year to sell paintings and photographs as well as other crafts.

I have not tried it but in the Lake Of The Ozarks I noticed there was some people that hung photos in the resturants of motels etc, I am not sure if they were rented to the establishment or just used as decoration but some had price tags on them to be sold.

Not only that, I also leave business cards. I live in the Netherlands, so I target the expat community, so I target the expat shops and also the international schools and expat newletters/magazines. Expats make up 20% of the city I live in so as a side gig, I'm pretty damn busy.
If I were you, I'd target smaller shops targeting brides/weddings/children as many larger chains won't allow you to advertise anything. Can you put up flyers at your local supermarket? Local women's clubs (as they'll have lots of moms who'll want a photographer for their duagthers when/if they hook one. Been a while since I lived in the US so I'm having a hard time thinking of other ideas sorry!
good luck

I wouldn't advise putting them in the window purely because the sun gets to them.
I have some work up in local shops and Starbucks as they (at least in the UK) have an artists wall.

- Display them as a theme, local buildings, travel, people etc.
- Do leave contact info
- Just ask! Tell them who you are and ask if they would be interested hosting your work
- Try and make it relevant - landscapes to outdoor/hiking shops, sports to sports shots, etc.

Here's on of my shop displays (I actually swapped the girl and the boat around to keep the theme :P):
