Default PR Shoot for new business opening.

Hi

I have been asked to photograph the opening of a new business in my local area. There will be various dignatries attending etc. The time required on site should be about 1 hour. They want pictures of cutting the ribbon, shaking hands etc. I have been through the forums and got some good idea on the type of shots I am aiming for but I need some idea of pricing.

The owner of the business will want to use the shots for future PR and marketing. I intend to supply him a copy of the images on a disk with full image rights. I am thinking of charging him about £35 per hour, with a total of 3 hours work for the shoot and editing (so £105) but I wonder if this is too cheap? I dont want to under charge but I dont want to price my self out of the running.

My other issue is the image rights certifiicate. Is there somewhere I can get a generic one and then tailor it to suit?

Many thanks for all help received.

Regards
Lee.

Too Cheap. For what theyre asking, a flat £250 rate should cover the images (1 year unlimited use rights) and your time

Don't supply him a CD of images.......who know's your images could end up in magazines and newspapers. And since you gave him the images, you won't earn $$$$$ from outside sales. Unless you put in contract, "no third party usage" and make that quite clear to your client.

I gather they probably need printable but digital images, so a better way is to cover your shoot, processing and expenses then have them buy individual shots for a certain price. You don't want to hand over 50 images when you could make the same for 5.

For example (wild guess). 250 pounds including 4 images. Extra images 15 pounds each or something.

Take bright, well composed and professional quality images and they'll be snapping them up.

Hi all

Many thanks for your replies. I thought I would let you know what I did in the end.

I priced the job at £95 per hour + editing. Digital images are £15.00 each with a 1 year unlimited usage rights.

I was hired and the job is this Friday.

Thanks again.

Lee.
