Default in home studio wall color

For those of you with a studio indoors, what color is/are the walls? I have some natural lighting in one of my rooms which I want to use for more practice. However, I have a light light brown color wall. I am worried about it not being bright enough without having to use a flash. Any thoughts?

If you're only going to be using natural light, definitely go with white. It will reflect light. Also, colored walls can introduce color casts.

I want to paint mine black so I have total control over the lighting with 0 bounce etc. I want everything to eat the light so the only light present is the light where I place it. I guess I am weird

Which is great if you're using studio lighting...the OP is using natural window light.

More important than color is finish, make sure it's flat paint and not gloss or semi-gloss. You'll get reflections and hot spots in reflective paint, and sure you can Photoshop them out, but why give yourself extra work.

I think about doing that from time to time but then I think man I don't know if I could hang out in a black room everyday LOL .. after the first week I'd be waking up and saying I don't even want to go to the studio today .. that or I'd be cancelling appointments and running to home depot for more white paint LOL

My studio has white walls, ceiling, doors and a light colored floor to prevent odd color casts. 99% of my shots use flash, so I'm not worried about the amount of light in the room.

Is just one wall light brown, or is it the whole room?

Depending on what you're doing a quick fix could be to tape a white bedsheet to one or some of the walls.

The whole room is a light tope (spelling) color, with dark circa 1970s trim.
