Default New online fine art shop (UK)

Hi All,

I am in the process of setting up a new online shop to sell limited edition fine art from new, up and coming photographers.

We will be going live by the end of January and we are looking for all types of imagery, but it has to be real quality.

Our commission structure is one of the best around, the more you sell, the more you get!!

If you are interested or you know people that might be, please get in contact and i will send you a copy of our submission guidelines and terms.

This is a very exciting project for the new year.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Allan

There is really no need to shout.

The point that i was making is that we don't have a fixed commission.

The company will take a smaller percentage, the more images a photographer sells through the site.

Then explain it that way

The OP sounds like a spam ad. You have less than 10 posts then come into the forums telling us how we can make money. If that doesnt set off some red flags somewhere, you need to get off the internet

Also: I wasnt shouting. That was sarcasm. It was a fake surprise.

My freind, i wasn't TELLING anyone anything. i was posting in the Earn With Photography section of the forum, about a new site that i have been setting up, for photographers that want to make some money from their images. it's a colaberation between myself and other photographers.

As for you thinking that i was spamming, i'm sorry you feel that way. none of my other posts (what ever the number is) have been spam. i just thought that as a large community of photographers it would be a goodplace to start.

I'm not entirely sure where your aggression has come from, i'm just a fellow photographer trying to make my way in the world, have had an idea and wanted to know if anyone wanted to join in with me.

I'm appologise if i have offended, i thought that this was a freindly place, i hope other members dont treat everyone like you have.

Thanks

Allan

Hi Allen,
Unfortunately this list gets a lot of come-ons/sCam that can be really annoying to see. Low number of posts in the forums tends to be a giveaway. Plus, you provided limited information about what you are doing and why we, as photographers, would want to know more and to participate. All of this, imho, translates to another scam tryingn to liberate us from income our work can earn.

I would be interested in knowing more as I have some interesting images taken in Ireland. I am also friends with a US photographer who specializes in Scottish landscapes. If you can convince me that yours is a legitimate site with good marketing strategies, I might come on board and might tell my friend about you.

Unfortunately, you did not supply this list with enough information to see you as much more than just another get "rich" scheme.

Good luck with your endeavors and please keep us informed.

Thanks for your reply, a much more constructive comment than the previous.

What i am trying to do is offer to the public/commercal institutions is a set of limited/ ultra limited edition prints through an online shop. i would have photographers contribute to the site and for each print sold the site would take a percentage of the profits, the more prints a photographer sells, the smaller the percentage commission the site would take.

I have got a very reputable printers on board and have built a site (not published yet) using paypal as a e-commerce provider (have to start somewhere )

Now i am looking for some photographers to submit images to the site, initally these would be reviewed by me together with the printers to decide on what the feel of the site will be. once we have enough images, the site will go live to the public.

I will then be going to hotel chains/bars/restaurants public facilities direct to try and make larger quantity sales. i have some contacts in this area.

I have a set of terms for submissions that will be available through the site that contributors will be able to download. if you would like to see them i would be happy to send them to you.

Whilst i am fully aware that the site is not going to be as good as some well established online retailers, it looks great and has all the functionality that an online e-commerce site needs to trade.

As i said before i have to start somewhere!

Regards

Allan

I think a main issue you are going to have is with the copyright of the images, the printer will need to have express written permission from the copyright owner to reproduce any images, lest the printer may wind up in a huge legal mess. I doubt many will be willing to turn over the copyright to you..you'll probably need to get some legal advice on this issue..

i have thought of this, copyright of all images will be kept with the photographer, all prints will go out with a hand written folio number, once the assigned amount of prints have been sold then the image will be removed from the site. my terms & conditions to contributors do cover this. i wouldn't expect copyrights to be handed over, just an exclusivity right. ie use is conditional on my site being the only place one could get it.

Regards,

Allan

Not gonna happen. You're going to need a non-exclusive limited use rights release from the photographer.
