Default Need more lenses for weddings

Hola a todos!!!

As you know I've been doing weddings for a while and just purchased a Canon 60D which came with a 18-135mm, I already had a XSi, a T1, and 18-55, 70-300 and 50mm Lenses

I sold the 70-300 as soon as I got the 18-135 but I guess I should sold the 18-55 instead since the new lens covers the exact range plus goes to 135. And I'm may sell the XSi (with the 18-55)

So that would let me only with the 50mm and the 18-135mm

What do you recommend me to buy next? Should I buy another 70-300 or should I get something better? (mine was a Canon) I saw a Sigma 50-500mm that may not be that expensive (I'm using the $150 that I got from the 70-300 plus the $600 if I sell my Xsi) or should I go other way? I just read a zoom review and looks like Tamron's and Sigma's 75-300 are good and non expensive. Other option is the Canon 55-250mm

I definitely need some longer than 135mm and fast since churches are often very dark places

Gracias!!

i would think the 70-200f2.8 would be the go to lens for your application...

get something that can help you in low light ....f/2.8

I use a Sigma 50-150 f/2.8 as my long lens (crop body)

If you can afford it get the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 VR as an investment.

If you need something longer than 135mm and you're shooting weddings professionally, I actually think you don't need a telephoto zoom. You need to be less shy and just move closer to the action.

You also need to get lenses that are faster, with a larger max. aperture. If you can't afford f/2.8 zooms, I'd actually say consider getting the EF 85mm f/1.8 USM or EF 100mm f/2 USM.

The Canon 85 f/1.8 is my favorite lens for portraits, whether weddings or not. But I have a full-frame camera; might be a bit long for that purpose on a crop sensor. Regardless, I don't own or shoot with any lenses slower than f/2.8.

I Mainly use a Tamron 28-75 f2.8 and s Canon 85mm f1.8 for weddings.. the 85 is some what long enough for you to sit at the end of the isle or on the sides and get a nice crop of the bride and groom al the alter.. Remember the 85mm is 136mm 35mm equivalent because of the crop sensor..

My vote for a kit would be a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, a fast prime like the 50mm f/1.4 or 85mm and later add a 70-200 f/2.8. Again Tamron offers a great value. 2 Bodies, one for the prime and one for zoom.

Ya my Tamron has better optical quality especially wide open then the Canon 85mm.. The 85mm gets nasty purple fringing making it almost unusable out side in right conditions with big contrast differences. It lives on my camera.. I rairly switch lenses now. Mainly all my primes go on a different body when doing shoots. In weddings I normally have my 85mm f1.8 on A canon xt and my 28-75mm f2.8 on my 20d.. And I don't swap any lenses..

Here in Mexico every church has its own set of rules. Last week I worked in one so small that I was standing like 2 feet away from the couple. But there are others where you must stand far, far away and can't get very close. That's the reason I need a larger zoom.

Thank you all for your responses, I'll look Tamron and Sigma as soon as I sell the Xsi and will get the best I can afford. My 50mm is f.1.8 so I think I have that covered, the 28-135 is not that fast but is good.

Gracias!!!

Sometimes that puts you too close for natural shots. If people notice, you've had it.

I personally shoot a wedding with 2 bodies and 3 lenses:

f2.8 10mm diagonal fisheye, f1.7 50mm Prime, f2.8 70-200mm for candids.
