Default Read-Only Disc?

Hello Everyone!
I've been trying to figure out how to burn a disc with some of my images as "read-only" I guess you would call it, except that's not really right either!

I want the person to be able to print the images but I don't want them to be able to make any changes to the actual image. Can this be done?

Thanks for any advise!

Noooo not as fair as I am aware. If it can be read, it can be copied, once it's copied onto the computer they can do whatever they want.

Yep. What Jamie said. As long as it's readable by the user it's copyable and modifiable.

All the "read only" thing does is make it so that you cannot change the original file. Nothing stopping them from opening it in an editing program, making changes, doing "save as" and naming it something different instead of replacing the original.

The only way to do what you want that I know of, is to save the images as a PDF and turn off the options that allow users to edit or copy the image.

Other than that I suggest, lots of water marks.

The "prnt scrn" button makes short work of that

Once the image leaves your hands..you have no control over it, unless you file and apply for a copyright immediately.

Copyright is established upon creation. Not filing paperwork doesn't forfeit your copyright.

But filing does give you more options in terms of protection collecting infringement $$, as you can seek damages..

There are two general types of damages awarded in copyright cases: statutory damages and actual damages. Statutory damages allow courts to award large numbers per infringement and also award attorney's fees and enforcement costs. In order to obtain these valuable statutory damages, the "work," must have been registered with the US Copyright Office.

Also you may not even be able to get automatic Federal Court jurisdiction, which also requires registration. A copyright holder seeking actual damages, can only get the lost value for the image; they are not entitled to incidental fees and costs.
