Default Website re-critique

You guys gave some feedback on the site a bit back, so I made some changes, based on them and from other feedback I sought out as well.

If you would be so kind as to revisit my site and let me know how things are coming, I would appreciate it.

With just a quick look I would highly recommend changing the menu from images to text and code. I personally find the text on them is very small too.
Do you do the coding yourself? If so, all you would need is to use a list, style it horizontally with a background colour and border and you're set.

You might like to read over this too:

Just my opinions, so take them for what they are worth.

Nice site, loading time is not bad.

I like the click and expand a picture, better than the slideshow.

From what I can tell, all of the photos in the slideshow are wedding, which left me feeling (right off the bat), you only do weddings. Not sure if that is what you wanted or not.

Not a big fan of the image menus, as the previous poster stated....I like the cleanliness of the site and think it would be further enhanced if it was just a text menu.

I like the honesty, in the About Me section...although it may be a little too casual and leave the visitor questioning how serious you are about your work...

Nice site, though. I like the images, and I like the way the galleries are smooth...and load within reason.

Just my 2c's

Kinda sorta maybe.... Part was done in a creator, and when it was not doing some things, then I was editing in wordpad while doing research on the internet. I also had some input by our local guru Buddaphi on the slider

Good point, I have left it as buttons for now, but increased the font size to make it more legible.

That is what I was going with. Open to debate, but from what I have read if you want to get to the "big show", then you need to focus on one aspect and be "the wedding guy" or the "sports guy" etc. From my research I got that you are a jack of all trades when you showcase all your talents, and will not usually be able to charge the rates that people who specialize do.

Wouldn't you know it? I had it as text as first (mainly for google) and feedback from my family was they like buttons over text. Hmmmm now I am torn. Gonna have to sleep on that one.

Google won't follow the buttons at all, don't be torn, use text to get the other pages indexed..

I have a vision impairment and have to enlarge big blocks of text to read them. When I do that with your statement, pricing, etc, they all run together, maybe you'd like to make that spacing 1 & 1/2?
Also, I see some grammar errors, etc, which to me says amateur. I would have someone who is really picky go over that stuff with a fine tooth comb.
I can be more specific, if it helps. (Ex-language arts major here.)

I agree. The numerous brackets and generally not-straight-to-the-point nature of your bio makes it sound as if you're not that confident your work is good.

You don't have to quote anything to make a good bio. Just state the facts with a little bit of back story. Possibly even just stating that you've been a photographer for [x] years. It tells them that you don't need to "back it up" in your bio by adding cruft. You're a photographer and you do weddings and portraits. That's all they need to be sure of.

I don't like "prettied up" bios but I also don't like reading bios that make it sound as if the person questions themselves.

My 2c.

Well, I have switched to text links vs the buttons.... Took forever to upload as the provider seems to be having some issues. The site is also running as slow as molassis in January (or July for those of you in the southern hemisphere). Hopefully they get that resolved shortly.

I will revisit the verbage in "about" tomorrow. The attempt or desire was to be light and different than everyone else out there. Getting enough feedback that I may have to dial that back a bit. Not sure where I will go from there, because I do want to maintain a light & different air, but maybe slightly more serious and straight forward than I do right now.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

dont want to be too forward, but have an idea on rewording the "about me" if you are interested....

(btw, like the look of the word much better than the image buttons)

Don't scale it back, stick with it. It works. Just try and make it a little more succinct.
