Default Food for thought -JCPenney and Easy as Pie

Kristen, author of the Brand Camp Blog Left-brained knowledge for right-brained people. wrote an article include as a sort of bonus material for the E-book, Easy as Pie from Served Up Fresh.

Here is one quote:

Even JCPenney upsells the disc for $39.99 with minimum $199.99 purchase – no throwing it in with the session fee!
Some time ago I knocked Easy As Pie really hard because of a horrible, horrible website that was rife with typos. Today I received an email telling me that the website has been relaunched, new and improved!

I took a look and sure enough it was. I also read the complementary chapter of the book that you can get from the site. That was enough for me to buy it even if it was just to see what all the hype is about.

The book puts into plain, easy to follow language many of the very same things that I, the other Jim and a few others have been trying to tell people.

I have to say it does a better job of it than I do, AND it even included a few things that were new, or good refreshers for me.

BTW, there is $100 off the price if you buy before 12 December.

No, I'm not affiliated with the book the author or anything else, but if you want to learn a lot of things that I learned through painful trial and error, I recommend it.

No, it doesn't tell you that you should be charging MY prices, in fact for most people reading this, it pretty much tells you that you SHOULDN'T! It does, however go a long way toward helping you figure out how much YOU should charge.

I have it! I got the new version before the official re-braninding just came out, it is awesome. Which is why I said in another post that my prices will be going up soon. I already have the worksheets all filled out, just waiting for the right time to get it all on my website (like after this crazy Christmas rush where I have time). I will not be charging $3K+ for a CD, but I will be structuring my packages as she suggests. And the prices will increase of course.

The only negative thing about Easy As Pie is the price. The people who need it most are the ones that just can't see themselves charging high prices, and $350 is a lot to pay for something you haven't seen. I got it when it was on sale before the rebranding. I am not saying it's not worth $350, but I would not have paid that in the hopes that it would turn a magic light bulb on (which it did, btw). I think the people that really need it won't pay that either, but hopefully with all the buzz it will convince them.

The website isn't working right now. It must have been a wikileaks retaliation site (j/k)

How much is the book now?

That's a high price to pay for a book. I'm thinking she might be making more money on her books than her photography.

I'll have to wait until I find it in the bargin bin at the library.

Well, I am going to need to increase my rates to afford the book.

Now if there was only a book that taught me how.

How much is it?

Go read the first chapter. It's free.

LOL, exactly. The normal price for the new and improved version will be $349, but she is always having giveaways lately. But yeah, when the old version was only $150ish for the 2 parts, even then I was really hesitant. Tons of people have it so she must be able to sell it for that, but I am not sure it is really helping the people that need it most. Except those of us that managed to steal it for a low price or get it in one of the giveaways. But yeah, read the first chapter, and the reviews.

AND, you get one download. If the file is corrupt on download, destroyed or otherwise no good after downloading, etc -- she won't allow you to re-download it. Says so right on the website.

AND, there is NO guarantee... except for a pithy Tommy Boy movie quote that means nothing.

AND, it's only 61 pages. $350 / 61 pages = $5.74 per page -- for an EBOOK.

Somehow, I just can't see paying $350 for a 61 page eBook, with zero guarantees and unverified testimonials on a website.

However, I'm still reading this thread hoping to see something that helps me understand a) the price of $350 for an eBook and b) the greater value of the book's contents.
