I also use Zenfolio. The reasoning for me was that it was the most cost effective out of the gate. With SmugMug there wasn't enough customization that I could do myself with limited technical knowledge and I'm not at the point starting out where I have enough to completely customize. With Zenfolio, I was able to have the designer who did my logo also do my site headers. She also gave me the hex numbers in my logo so that I could use them for custom colors on my site.

I haven't tried PhotoShelter but I've read a few reviews and if you have the capital to spend, it's been called the top of the heap. One thing that stuck out is that it was said to do great things with SEO.

Honestly, I just did a free trial with both SmugMug and Zenfolio for a side by side comparison.

Hope that helps somewhat.

I recently signed up for a Smugmug Pro account and have been very happy with it so far. the site allows me to fully customize it so that my Smugmug site looks like just another page on my regular website.

I also like the layout of the tools, and the pro store and branding option. Plus, although I haven't had any problems yet, I like the fact that the company is a very small group of dedicated photographers. Their customer service is really top notch.

Here's my site:

Thanks for all the replies. I am now working on the 14 day trial with Smugmug. This is going to be interesting. I haven't set up a website before and I am having real fun (not) with it. Smugmug is sneaky, it"ll take the whole free 14 days to figure out what the hell I'm doing.

Hi Gina If I may just make 2 comment son your site. I found the lines kind of screwed with my eyes a bit - like thos optical illusion pictures. But also, I thought I would just mention that purple is the bi-polar colour - (although assocaited with royalty) people either love it or hate it, like marmite. It might be an idea to change the colour slightly (pastel pink and blue would work if you spe******e in baby pictures).

I believe it was Disney World Paris that they originally painted purple as it was the directors favourite colour - they nearly went out of business until they changed the colour which made all the difference! Purple also represents "commoners" in Spain, so if you have many Spanish customers..... :P

I was almost two years on Art Gallery & Community - T-Shirts, Posters, Greeting Cards, Wall Art, Fine Art Prints, Calendars & More - RedBubble.com.
I am on JPG: Your World in Pictures now.
If you are looking for selling your photos on redbubble is everything free but IMO if you making T-shirts is better. I sold just few postcards.
