Kinda giving away the farm aren't you? If I am smarter than a 5th grader and my math is correct you would do a 10 hour no print wedding for $300.00???

I don't know about the economy there, but the guys who are flooding craig's list here are usually around $500.00. Even if you are on a 1:1 time ratio for shoot vs edit, that brings you down to $15/hr not counting travel, setup, signing the contract, delivery. Factor in your equipment depreciation, gas, phone bill, advertising, wear & tear on automobiles etc and I think you could make more $/hr selling pencils on the street corner/

I don't mean any offense to the photographer who is offering this, but, scooter, you are giving WAY to much credit to this person. While you, I and others get the "ongoing" business perspective, someone who offers this has already made the capital outlay for the camera and lens and will likely deliver the images SOOC. So, to him, even $30 an hour taking pictures is probably good cash. Of course, if he gets sued, breaks something, drops the ball, etc, then he will be in a world of hurt.

People like this, very often, last maybe 3 months. They get in over their heads, get constant complaints and, very often, have zero incentive or drive to improve. To be completely honest, these guys are what drive people upwards for photography... his client will most likely not pay my rate for photography initially. But if the experience is bad enough, then they will most certainly pay for true "professional" work the next time.

Amen! And the cycle continues. That's why I say that low budget photographers aren't really hurting the business. They're just part of the cycle.

Am I just missing or or does this dude not have any photos of what he has listed he can do? I don't see wedding or any portraits on there. It looks like just some dude who works at a race track and goes to allot of concerts and takes scenery pictures.

I invited him to drop in and visit. Maybe he'll learn a thing or two.
