Default liability insurance - how much?

I have a business license and pay taxes, but I have been slacking on the liability insurance. I am sure that I need it as I have been working with a lot of newborns recently. I don't know where to start though. How much do I need? What does it cost per year/month? Are there certain companies that specialize in photography businesses or can I go through my homeowner's insurance? Thanks for the help!

Yes you do, if your flash falls off the camera, or a light stand tips over and falls on your client, they can sue your pants off. I have a 1.5 million dollar policy that I only pay $150.00 a years............it's cheaper in the long run and safer.

Oh wow, that's not bad. I was expecting several hundred. Do you have it through your homeowner's insurance or do you have to go through a separated company. I am in the Houston area, trying to figure out who to call.

I have my camera insurance through Hayes, but the liability through Farmers's insurance company that we have car, home and individual life policies with.

I got a discount as a photo.net member on photographer-specific equipment and liability insurance through Willis. Cost me about $400/year for $2 million liability, $15K equipment, and covers an assistant as well should I need to hire one (a likely scenario for a wedding).

Me too please I'm always happy to look for lower costs.

Does the policy include an inland marine clause?
