Default A reply to free comps

If the No way, Jose thread happens to get lost. Here's the original thread: Free comps, no way Jose!
You I know getting published sound fine, but it doesn't pay the bills. Stick to your guns.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for getting back to me. I completely agree with your sentiment and appreciate the work you've done and your desire to be compensated for it.

Regarding my use of the images - I'm looking to create a power point that I can present to prospective sponsorship patch partners for Clint. I thought that some of your images would fit very well with my presentation.

I would use the images for approximately 3-6 months, or until I could secure my own images to use.

Let me know your thoughts on what you think is acceptable.

Thank you and best regards,

Sounds like Micah is asking for a price.

I definitely have to agree with this. Send him a quote and see if he negotiates or anything.

JMO but I'd be chapped if someone posted the details of my business transactions on the web for the world to see. I wouldn't do business with them again. Just saying Jim, not very professional. (in a kind sort of way)

Just one of the reasons I suggested a private, members only area way back when. I was just about run out on a rail over it though.

With all due respect to you Jim, I think it's a bad idea to post your private business dealings on a public forum. I can see where this issue would create some good conversation about making money with photography; ie. what to do and what not to do. However the other party really has no choice in the matter and might not like having his business posted on the net for all to see. Perhaps removing their name from your post would be a good idea?
Just my opinion...

I think he is still scooting around the issue of compensation. He doesn't go on to say anything about getting quotes or how much he's prepared to pay. He merely agrees about your desire to be paid.

He's still being sneaky. Like Smeagol **cough** Gollum **cough**.

JMO - I think it is in poor taste to post the details of your business dealings here. Just like we don't trash talk other photographers by name and website here. Should they ever end up here there will be a$$es in slings to say the very least.

The point could have easily been made without showing us what I am sure was intended to be private correspondence. I would never do business with a photographer that had the nerve to post my private correspondence with him or her on the web (like sharks after a bloody piece of meat) for all to see. - Just saying

Keep Shooting

That's the difference between you and me. I'm just trying to show folks that sometimes clients try to sweet talk a photographer into giving away the photos for free. Then again I should have blacked out his name and such. I stand as corrected and will black out info.
