Default Print Packaging Question

Ok, I'm in a similar situation as a recent poster except I'm going a different route with it. I've taken up photography in the last year and share my stuff on facebook. My work is very popular with my friends and many of them have asked for prints or for me to shoot them or their kids. I know I'm a long way from bein able to charge for my services, but I have decided to try to sell some of my stuff on consignment at a couple of local shops to help fund buying more equipment for my obsession...I mean hobby. I was wondering if anyone can tell me where I can find the cardboard/paperboard inserts that go in the bag with the prints to give them some stiffness. Or at least the common name for that sory\t of thing so I can google it.

clearbags.com and look for their show kits...comes complete with mat, backing board, and bag with protective closure (the adhesive is on the bag, not the flap so it protects your work. Decent price and a good product. I got ivory mats, would recommend white, especially if you shoot in bw.

They're called COMPTON mounts. Generally anywhere from $0.99 to $2.49

If you have larger items, you'd probably ship them in a tube unless they are already mounted on something, in which case you'd need pretty sturdy packaging. Staples and similar stores have pretty decent options.

You might check out Photographers Edge in Colorado. They carry a large selection of print making and packaging supplies.

Oh, btw, make sure you order the correct INSIDE cut of the mat. I mistakenly ordered a set of 11 by 14 mats, but with an opening for 8.5 by 11 inches, not 8 by 10.

Thanks for the links everyone, I think I found what I'm looking for. I just wanted the thin cardbaord to put in a clearbag to give the print some stiffness, I'm not looking to mat them. I just have one other question. Why does something that costs $4 and weighs next to nothing cost $14-$18 to ship?

Because they don't make any money charging you $4 for the product!
