Default Photo website Flash templates?

Photo website Flash templates?

I am finally ready to put up a photo website. (OK, ok, I’m really working on it in between real work.)

While I can program, I don’t want to reinvent the wheel (again). I’ve noticed that many of you have great looking websites. Did you purchase a Flash or other template?

I know that there are tons out there; some better than others. Can you point me toward your picks for these?

yup, just purchased one from photobiz.com, theres TONS of templates, and each template is very customisable. ....and the customer service is brilliant too.

for the HTML lovers, you can pay an extra fee and they wil set-up an HTML mirror site too, to help the search engines find you.

squarespace.com is what I use. Easy to make a decent website, take a look at mine. It's free to try too, that's what got me hooked. I think they give like a couple weeks. I pay 14 a month. not too bad.

Photobiz again, right here. Love love love them.

For those who're strongly against Flash, the html mirror site can be directed as the main. I think you may be able to just purchase the html version which is a 1-time $45 set up as I recall...

You're probably going to get plenty of responses saying to just go with a word press site though...

i use ifp3 ifp3 - Advanced Photography Websites - Home but it's not cheap. I'm looking at changing it when my contract is up.

My site is here: Samnooshka Designs

Try Website Templates, Web Templates, Flash Templates, Free Website Templates - DreamTemplate its one of those pay a subscription and get access to their whole library.

The cu3ber ones are really neat and they have flash photo galleries.

All the css and html are valid and you get the photoshop files as well.

You do need to be able to edit them, but you said you can program so i am assuming that wont be a problem.

I found it simple to figure out and tought myself dreamweaver while i was at it. If you just want to add text and pictures etc then notepad will do.

HTH

I am looking at starting a website too. A photographer friend recommended bludomain.com. I think she said she paid 100 for the set up and then 100 a year to host through them.

Why would people be strongly against Flash? It seems to me that the coolest sites utilize Flash.

Flash is great for looks, but Google currently "does not like" flash sites. It's tougher/not possible for the to crawl and index your site compared to HTML sites, especially when people using Flash have a tendency to use only flash with no HTML bsed text on the homepage, therefore the search engines can't crawl deeper into the site and index those pages.

As for websites, i tried a lot of the less expensive sites ($100 - $200/year) that had free trials, and ended up using zenfolio.com. Not super customizable, but enough that I was able to do what I wanted with my website, and it's only $100/year. Then figure in another $10/year if you wanted to get your own domain name through Godaddy.com
